Commemorative Bridge Dublin
The Commemorative Bridge is minimal and pure in form, stretching elegantly across the River Liffey and resting lightly on gently sloped grassy banks that conceal its foundations. This creates the impression that the bridge simply lies upon the landscape. Slender pre-cast white concrete fins define its sides, with consistent gaps between each fin lending a transparent, almost ethereal quality rarely seen in concrete structures. This lightness is visible from both near and far. A reductionist approach to materials creates a quiet presence within the landscape. All architectural elements are formed from pre-cast white concrete with fine white aggregate. Up close, subtle surface variations distinguish the parts, while from a distance, the material reads as uniform.
